Runners are you ready?

I am so getting into the habit of ‘stealing’ things from peoples blogs but I will always credit them so I don’t feel very guilty. Anyway you have to read this…..I think I will write it out and put it on my wall so I can see it everyday. This is from this blog:

time to dream again

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

This morning God just rocked my world reminding me about this verse. Let me put it in the Amplified version…

Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]–

in Acts 2 it says in the last days, God will our out His Spirit on all people. Sons and daughters will prophesy, young men will see visions, old men will dream dreams.

i believe we are in that time.

i believe He is pouring out His Spirit, and He is enabling us to prophesy, to see visions, to dream dreams.

And that’s because He wants us to see, He wants to prepare us… because what God desires to do in and through our lives is beyond our wildest dreams, desires, hopes, thoughts, prayers… and He is pouring out His Spirit and imparting faith so that we may partner with Him to even greater things.

The craziest, biggest, wildest, most far fetched thing you can imagine God doing through your life? He can do and has WAY MORE than that planned. (besides the giving you a ferrari or brad pitt) :)

you know, judah 4 was started because God gave a young girl a dream, a vision. and then He gave many others that same dream. they shared the dream, they believed in it, they were consumed by it. those men and women took steps of faith. and now look where we are today.

i believe in this generation there will rise up men and women who will dream and be used by God to see their families, high schools, universities, tutorial groups, soccer teams come to know Christ. to start Bible studies, to start life groups, to start churches. to eradicate poverty, abolish abortion, rescue orphans, cure cancer. to see their best friend, sister, brother, teacher come to know Christ. to see nations changed, people saved, the name of God lifted up and the church be answer.

i believe God is saying it’s time to dream again.

2010 is going to be a big amazing incredible year. i believe He is going to bring about SO many things that we can’t even begin to see or understand yet.

i hope you feel as challenged and as encouraged as i do.

so let’s ask God for more of His Spirit. let’s see not just with our natural eyes, but with our spiritual man. and then in faith let’s begin to prophesy what He is going to bring about. to see with eyes of faith a vision of what God can do. to dream big, BIG and BIGGER.

and then see what God will do in and through our lives.

stepping into 2010: seize God opportunities

wow! 2009 is drawing to a close and we’re on the verge of entering 2010 :)

MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Almost exactly a year ago I remember having a conversation/shepherding lesson with some girls I was doing life with. We were talking about what our biggest regrets were in 2008.

And interestingly enough, our biggest regrets were not the things we had done WRONG but the things we had NOT DONE. It was the missed God-opportunities.

It was the excuses we’d made, the fears we’d allowed to hold us back, the inconveniences that we’d found too inconvenient to make us move out of our comfort zones!

This year looking back… I’ve found that it is the same.

There may have been times where I’d made a complete fool of myself, where I’d made the biggest mess up of things, done or said things that I regret… we all wish we could hit the rewind button or turn back time and do things differently.

But what’s funny is that those experiences don’t weigh as heavy on my heart as the times where God had SAID something to me, OPENED doors for me, PROMPTED me on something… and due to fear, laziness, selfishness, greed… I’d not done those things or even TRIED.

very recently I almost missed one of those God opportunities.

i almost missed out the chance to help someone in need (which i know will lead to more open doors into that person’s life) and i’m not proud to say, what would have been my excuse if i’d not helped?

i was actually selfishly telling myself that i didn’t really want to have a conversation with that person, because it would take too much of my time and energy. how ironic is it that i was busy planning how i could grow in God in 2010?? (well here’s an opportunity to start now! God must have been saying)

thank God i heeded the Holy Spirit’s prompting in my heart! or else i would seriously have regretted it the rest of 2010, which hasn’t even started!!!

I really think it is something God is speaking (or SHOUTING to get my attention!) to me about before 2010 comes.

This is what I read last night before I went to bed (you know those times when you read something and you feel like it was written just for you just at the right time??)

“…I think our deepest regrets are missed opportunities. Action regrets taste bad, but inaction regrets leave a bitter aftertaste that lasts a lifetime. Inaction regrets haunt us because they leave us asking, “What if?” We wonder how our lives would have been different had we taken the risk or seized the opportunity.

Failing to take a risk is almost like losing a piece of the jigsaw puzzle of your life. It leaves a gaping hole. When we get to the end of our lives, our greatest regrets will be the missing pieces.

You know, I believe without a doubt God is sovereign and so He uses EVERY single experience, circumstance, every single day and moment for His plan in our lives. So whether there are regrets that we may have- it’s not too late and you don’t have to beat yourself up over it. God still can use every regret and missed opportunity for His plan in your life. God is a God of second chances and He is master at connecting the dots in ways we cannot understand!

So leave the past behind us, leave 2009 behind us and let me say exactly the same thing I said to those girls almost a year ago: let us seize every God ordained opportunity in 2010.

So make the decision in your heart now, and write it down somewhere, make it part of your new years’ resolutions, post it on your wall!

Determine before God that you will NOT let any fear, any doubt, any inconvenience, any laziness, any selfishness hold you back when God speaks, prompts, opens that door.

i know sometimes we want to stick to schedules, plans and what is convenient. (personally being almost a control freak i LOVE it!)

But something that i have come to realize as I’ve allowed God to throw me in all sorts of situations over the years: the best memories, most unforgettable experiences are the ones we DIDN’T plan.

They’re the ones we went out on a limb on, took a risk, followed the Holy Spirit’s leading, or sometimes for our own good God left us without a choice.

And usually these are the ones we remember forever, and changed us forever.

So as you look forward to and seek God about 2010:
make those plans yes! but remember to leave some room, plan for the unplannable, be flexible, be courageous. walk in step with the Holy Spirit.

Have faith: embracing uncertainty. so in the new year let’s together embrace the uncertainties and the opportunities even when they are out of your comfort zone, confronting your deepest fears, and inconvenient, and see how God will move far beyond what we can ever dream or imagine.

i know that’s going to be one of my new year’s resolutions :)

By faith not by sight

It’s been more than one week since I left brisbane and J4. It’s friday today again but there won’t be LG for me. I know for sure that to keep staying close to God will be a challenge for me because I dont have a church back home to go to, no fellowship group to share life with God,  neither even any christain friend. But by faith I know that He never stop showing His mercy and love in my life, I can sense his present being with me every single minute and moment.

First I want to praise God for my result. It is so much better than what I was expecting. Last sem’s maths was a very big challenge for me. I couldn’t even cover every chapter during swat vac. Among 38 chapters, I could only barely revise 25 of them. I was aiming a 4 which is 55% overall.  I know this is out of my capacity. But nothing is out of God’s capacity, Amen? During the exam, among 6 questions i only did 4 of them and most of the marks were concentrated on the last 2 questions, which i didnt even looked at. I was totally feeling hopeless, even preparing to do the course next sem again.  However, when I check my result, God gave me a 5! How impossible! How can I get more than 65% in this paper. I know it’s not me. It’s my Father who had strengthened me. Without his intelligence and power, I would possibly fail. Praise God!

Another thing that has impressed me a lot was the church that I visited with Josh and his parents in korea. Before I went, I could already imagine how the church will be like, very very very traditional worship songs, 50+ years old uncles and grandmas, super serious attitude and boring. But at the moment I went into the church, I could feel the presence of holy spirit so strongly that I wanna cry. It was so strong and clear. I could feel Him. I know most of you guys have been going to this kind of church since you can remeber. But this is the first time ever in my life. No jumping around praise song, no free worship, no dancing, no shouting. All we had was an organ and a big choir. I thought I won’t like it. I thought this kind of church must be so boring, how can God’s presence be led in here under this kind of atmosphere? But I was wrong. I could feel the respect and fear to God in people’s heart, the attitude of repent and thanksgiving. All minds were focused on the Holy Father, His presence was surely there with us. I closed my eyes, started enjoying the moment of being with Him. Eventhough I couldnt understand the language at all, I knew God’s was speaking to me. He taught me to believe in and follow him by faith not by what I hear and see. No matter what circumstance it is, His presence will sure fall to me. Really, I learnt a lot.

I believe that He will inspire and help me to grow up a lot even during the holiday.

I Believe…….

I believe that I am a child of the living God. And because I am His child I believe He can do immeasurable above all I can ask or think. I also believe He can supply all my needs according to His riches in glory. I walk by faith and not by sight because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. And because of this, my circumstances/situations will not dictate what I believe in; if I am sick, I believe I will be healed; If I am in need, I believe He will supply.

I am more than  conqueror through Christ who gives me strength. I can also do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Everything that comes my way will not be able to defeat me. No one can say of my life that I am unable to achieve anything because as long as Christ is in and with me, I can do it. He has justified those He has called, and glorified all He has justified therefore I need not think that I am unable to do what He has called me to do because if He has called me, He will equip me for that calling.

Nothing can separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. His grace is more than sufficient and His mercies are new every morning. Therefore I can approach His throne in boldness and confidence knowing that if I am repentant, He is faithful and just to forgive me of my sins.

I can ask anything according to His will, it will be done. Therefore when I pray I will not doubt. The devil comes to steal, kill and destroy but Christ has come that we may have life and have it to the full. Therefore I will take captive any thought that seeks to exalt itself above God and not allow the devil to have a foothold on my mind. I will renew my mind with the word of God. I will think on whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable and praiseworthy.

I offer my life as a spiritual act of worship and no longer conform to the patterns of this world. For I am in this world, but not of it. I am a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God and I will declare praises of Him who brought me out of darkness into His marvellous light.

This is what I believe. And so I will live my life in accordance with what I believe.

My all time favourite quote and it has once again hit me with tears edging out of my eyes.

I see a sea bed of potential men and women in Judah 4, potential to be great men and women in God, to take the world by storm for Christ. However, I see too the mountains of obstacles in the coming year. Mountains that may at times seems to big for anyone of us to conquer.

Someone once said, the richest place on earth are not found in the gold mines but the graveyard. So many unfulfilled dreams, unwritten books and unsung songs. A treasure chest of potential not tapped into.

Are we willing to take this one chance to fight, to try and conquer that mountain, to attempt to fulfill our God given potential in our lives. Or lying on our death bed years from now only to regret that we should have given it a go.

My God, The faithful provider!

My results are out and I would say it’s a mixed bag. Definitely there are loads I can praise the good Lord for, and there a areas I need to continue to strive for improvements.

English was a B+ overall. This coming from one of the best and harshest teachers in the school, I would count this as a blessing! Although I felt as though I was treated unfairly as compared to the other classes with “loose” marking teachers, unlike mine who keeps expecting us to write Shakespear-ish (the only thing he’ll be shaking when he marks our papers is his head), God had definitely taught me to appreciate this opportunity to practice and get adapted to a higher standard of English. After all, this does not go to my year 12 and what doesn’t kill me only makes me stronger.

Other subjects like Econs, Chem, Biology were all also B+, “very VERY close to A-”, said the teachers. Felt disappointed at first, but then for Chem, I was able to claw my way back up to a B+ after a messy C at the start, a result of not knowing what to expect. That in itself should be worth of thanksgiving to God. I will just have to push harder next year for these and I believe God will do the rest and reward accordingly.

But the amazing one was Legal Studies, which turned out an A-! This was a subject I had taken up just in the middle of the year, after finding myself struggling with Graphics. I jumped ship and I had to play catch up. By God’s grace and strength, I not only caught up, I finished quite high up! Furthermore, the 2 days before the exam, I decided to “Synergise” and make the call to seek God first by going to, non other then, church seminar! So, not only did I get to know God deeper and learn a whole lot of stuff during the weekend, as well as awesome fellowship time with u lovely people, God was so gracious to bless me by making my hard work of early preparation pay off!

Overall a good results.

Then I looked back at the devotion records few days before the exams which went along these likes:

Me: God, Its impossible to score an A, let alone score more than one
God says: You can do all things in Me, who will give you strength (Phil 4:13)

Me: Lord, I’m tired of studying
God says: Come to me all who are weary and heavy burdened and I will give u rest and those who look upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they will rise on wings like eagles (Matt 11:28 and Isiah 40:31)

Me: Eh God, really cannot la…
God says: Trust me, I will direct your steps (Prov 3:5-6)

Me: Aiyo, I’m not smart enough le Lord.
God says: I gave you wisdon. (1 Cor 1:30)

Me: Lord, what if I fail..again..I’ve never been able to score well. I’m afraid I may let myself down again
God says: I did not give you a spirit of fear. (2 Tim 1:7)

So in the end, God really provided! He brought me through! Such an amazing God he is!

And yea, starting to and going to miss you all during the holidays. Continue to desire more of Him!

The Apostles- Their Inspiring Stories and Deaths

I was walking around BBC and I came across, well, stepped on a sheet of paper which had year 12 Christian Education on it, with no name. I decided to pick it up and give it a read. To my interest, it was about the works and missions of the the twelve deciples after the death of the Lord Jesus, their percicutions and subsequent deaths.

So feeling awesomly encouraged by their acts and missions of faith, I shall it with you all.

1. Simon Peter (The Rocker): <—-Lame Joke

  • Authoritative figure of the first Church in Jerusalem (Confirming the “build my church upon the rock” prophecy)
  • Wrote First and Second Peter in NT
  • Claimed to be first Pope(Bishop) by many Catholics today
  • Opposed by Emperor Nero, 64 A.D.
  • When told to flee Jerusalem, he had a vision which he interpreted to be his coming death in Jerusalem, therefore he did no flee.
  • Eventually caught and sentenced to be crucified. Requested to be crucified upside down as he considered himself not worthy of being crucified the same way his Lord Jesus. Died 64A.D.

2.Andrew, brother of Peter

  • Introduced Peter to Jesus
  • traveled all over Greece and the Asian Minor and spread the message of Christ and his love.
  • He was crucified in Achaia on an “X” shaped cross. This is also why the flag of Scotland has a white cross. Its the cross of St.Andrew. So yea, his fault.
  • Crucified 60A.D. during the reign of Emperor Nero

3.James, brother of John, Son of Zebedee:

  • Preached all over Samaria (northern Israel – technically not Jews) and Judea (the southern kingdom – mainly Jews) and traveled as far as the shores of Spain.
  • Took the honor of being the first of the apostles to be killed for the Gospel of Christ.
  • Killed in Jerusalem with the sword by King Herod Agrippa, who was waning to gain support of the Jews in the city for his rule (Acts 12:2)
  • he inspired many of the guards guarding him to become Christians at how he defended his faith and spoke fearlessly.
  • When the sentence against James was handed out, the Roman officer in charge of guarding James knelt by James and declared he was a Christian – thus beheaded along with James as a Christian. (44-45 A.D.)

4.Nathanael Bartholomew:

  • He quickly became a preacher of Christ and traveled far and wide for the Gospel.
  • He mainly preached in the regions of Mesopotamia, the Black sea area, Egypt and the area close to Northern India.
  • Bartholomew was beaten severely and flayed alive first, and then crucified head downward in Albanopolis, Armenia for preaching to the Armenian king about Christ and then successfully converting him to Christianity.
  • Shortly after his death, the entire nation of Armenia embraced Christianity as its state religion. (70 A.D.)

5.James, son of Alphaeus:

  • He was killed by the Jews in 62 A.D. in Jerusalem.
  • He was taken to the top of the temple and was thrown down and then beaten with clubs and mallets and stoned to death.
  • All this while he continuously prayed for the forgiveness of his attackers as he painfully died.

6.Judas (not Iscariot) or Jude Thaddeus:

  • The brother of James the son of Alphaeus.
  • Judas questioned the Lord: “Judas said to him (not Iscariot), Lord, how is it that you will show yourself to us, and not unto the world?” (John 14:22).
  • After he witnessed Christ’s resurrection, Judas then knew the answer to his question.
  • He preached in Persia and Syria with Apostle Simon.
  • He was beaten and then stoned to death in Persia by the end of the first century.

7.John, brother of James, Son of Zebedee:

  • The only disciple to live until AD 101 and did not die of any violent death.
  • He founded numerous churches in the Asia Minor, Greece and continued his brother’s work in Samaria.
  • Exiled but continued to work to spread the Gospel – eventually writing the book of Revelations in exile at the prison island of Patmos
  • Wrote the fourth Gospel and the three epistles.

8.Matthias:

  • Matthias replaced Judas Iscariot (the betrayer of Christ who hanged himself) as the twelfth Apostle of Christ (Acts 1:26).
  • One of the seventy that Christ sent out during his earthly ministry (Luke 10:1).
  • He preached close to 30 years in Ethiopia, Egypt, Cappadocia (Turkey) and Judea. He lived to about 73 A.D.
  • Stoned at Colchis, Georgia for speaking the gospel there. After being stoned in Jerusalem, he was beheaded there – thus ending his ministry.

9.Simon the Zealot:

  • Belonged in the Jewish sect of Zealots who violently opposed Roman rule.
  • After he saw with his own eyes that Christ had been resurrected, he became a zealot of the Gospel.
  • Simon proclaimed the good news of Christ’s resurrection: Egypt, Cyrene, Africa, Mauritania, Britain, Lybia, and Persia.
  • His rest finally came when he verified his testimony and went to be with Christ, being crucified by a governor in Syria. 74 A.D.

10.Thomas Didymus (The Doubting Thomas):

  • Stated “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25).
  • After this, Christ did appear to him and Thomas believed unto death.
  • preached in Parthia and came to India in 52 A.D.
  • Even to this day, Kerala remains a Christian stronghold because of Thomas.
  • The fast growth of Christianity, enraged priests of pagan religions.
  • Helped to kill him with a few soldiers in 72 A.D. in India. He died speared to death by his enemies
  • Christianity in India is largely responsible to him.

11.Philip:

  • Originally a disciple of John the Baptist.
  • Brought Bartholomew to Christ.
  • He worked hard in the Asian Minor and Upper Asian regions.
  • He was caught, beaten, thrown into prison and later crucified in 54A.D. for the Gospel at Heliopolis, in Phrygia.

12.Matthew (Tax Collector):

  • Wrote the gospel of Mathew in Hebrew.
  • He worked hard to preach the gospel in Parthia and Ethopia.
  • He was slain by a halberd in the city Nadabah at 60 A.D.

A few lessons that can be learned from what they did:

  1. Making a stand for your faith ain’t easy, there are sacrifices involved, even to the point of death.
  2. There will be a time that we will be called and used by God. Question is, will we be ready?
  3. Each and every one of us have all got different callings and purposes but the same goal, same God

My Stand.

Everyone wants to be loved, accepted, appreciated. Some find it in a family, some find it in among a group of friends, perhaps a group of godly brothers and sisters for some, but few find it Christ. I would love to share with you all this commitment the Lord has placed in my heart. It is none other than the juicy topic of relationships and dating.

Now, I personally know that I am not ready for a serious relationship at all. Yes, being 18 and being around a culture that promotes and encourages dating as a norm, it can be very tempting to just go along with the flow and be accepted by fellow peers. But hey, who ever said making a stand was easy? Especially a stand for God? Jesus was crucified, Peter was crucified upside down, the apostle Paul was beheaded, and a whole list of godly men were stoned, flogged and persecuted just because they made a stand. Furthermore, Matt 5:13 calls us to be salt and light, to be set apart, and Romans 12:2 tells us not to be conformed to the patterns of this world.

On a less serious note:

Proverbs 18:22 “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, And obtains favor from the LORD.”

I’m sure some guys are yelling Amen at the top of their voices right now, but guys, let’s understand one thing: God never tells man to seek after a woman just for the sake of use and abuse. God hates it when we take advantage of one another. The bible ONLY encourage relationships based on long term commitments that lead to eventual marriage.

But first, let me show you what the world has done to the image of love, relationships and dating. It has done nothing but present a perverted version of what was once an amazing gift from God. Gone were they days of commitment, gone were the days of virtue and out the window goes godliness. Now, what we have is the self-centered, short-termed and immoral practice of “Recreational Dating”, which is dating where both individuals have no interest of commitment or marriage and it is just solely to satisfy fleshly pleasures. Boys now think they can be a man and play the games of REAL MEN while not assuming responsibility of it! All they want now is the kiss kiss touch touch urge to merge nonsense……

Here are the few reasons why I choose to stay clear from relationship for now:holiness

  1. I am not physically, mentally, financially and most importantly spiritually capable of leading another. I believe intimacy comes at the cost of commitment and if I am not ready to commit myself to that relationship, then I have no right to be even thinking of another. Come on, I’m only 18, there is so much more I have to learn from the Lord and grow in maturity in Him.
  2. I do not want to allow myself to easily fall into sexual sin and desires of the flesh for youthful lust is so dangerous. We could so easily commit adultery at any point! When I say adultery, I’m referring to the Matt 5:28 definition which states whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Let us compare two verses, Eph 6:11 which says we may take our stand against the devil and 1Cor 6;18 which says flee from sexual immorality. See that how much more dangerous sexual immorality and lust is? Even when the devil comes, we stand and he flees. But when it comes to sexual immorality, we are told to flee!   3. Marriage is scared! It is so sacred that God uses marriage to symbolize the uniting of His son and His church. The Bible calls the church the bride of Christ (Rev 21:2). If God has described it to be such a sacred occasion, let us not rush into a relationship, but seek God always for preparation.
  4. Eph 5:25 says: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. How far did Christ go for His church? All the way to the point of death. This means if I were to get into a relationship, and if I want to be Christlike in it, I must be able to lay down my life for my spouse, to stand at the door to protect her from whatever that comes!
  5. Matthew 6:33 encourages us that if we seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, all these things shall be added unto us. I’m sure when God said “ALL THESE THINGS”, I’m sure that includes a perfect spouse made just for each and every one of us individually. After all, if marriage is so sacred, a spouse would probably be one of God’s top priorities in a list of things to give us. So let us stop worrying and seeking and thinking we know best and try to play God, but rather, trust and obey!
  6. Why bother spending so much time, effort, and money, calling and texting someone to share your problems with, hoping they can help just because they are you boy/girl friend, where we have an omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient prayer-answering God whos promises will endure! Why not turn to Him and lean on Him, and He will make straight your path? (Prov 3:5)
  7. What right do I have to waste my parent’s hard earned money on another person’s daughter? What right do I have to take another man’s daughter/son? I mean, I would be pretty pissed off if someone just came into my house without permission and took all my Gundam. I’m not saying I sexually made those Gundams, but still, they are something I treasure.

I know some of you are probably thinking ‘Wow, Paul has officially gone crazy’. But we are talking about the standards of the Most High, the King of Kings, the Almighty, Sinless and Blameless, Pure Light and we can just go on and on. Therefore, this is not just what I am saying, this is what God commands us to keep. Your problem now will not be with men, but with God and His Word.

To the brothers: It is good to say that we want a godly spose, but let us spend less time thinking about how or what is a godly and virtueous spose. We all know the saying: takes a theif to catch a theif, or rather, a lame boy to laugh at a lame joke (haha..get it?), so therefore, Let us strive for godliness first, so that we can reconise a godly woman!

To the sisters: Set your standards high, VERY HIGH. Dont settle for some cheapo-immitation little boy who thinks he’s a man.

Finally, I CANNOT find in the Bible teachings that endorse the kind of recreational dating that the world practices today. It teaches us to date and dump based on compatibility and when something goes wrong, change the person you are “with”. Imagine if God did that to us. We would have been “dumped” the first time we sin! Let us all pursue godliness in relationships together and be:Godly-men400

AND WOMAN.

  • Ephesians 5:3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
  • 1Corinthians 6:18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
  • 2Timothy, 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts;

Help! God is NOT speaking to me

Not that I support WordPress, but I do think the team who created this blog did a really awesome job! Kudos to all of you.

Am reading “The Ultimate Treasure Hunt” by Kevin Dedmon, he went on to write about how easy it is to hear from God… and in my attempt to summarize the chapter, read on..

For many Christians, the idea of hearing from God is very foreign. Christian have no problem petitioning God, expecting Him to hear them. What they have difficulty with is believing that they hear from Him. Unfortunately for many Christians, hearing from God has been reduced to getting an insight from the Bible. For some, the thought of God directly speaking to us individually is scary because all the “kooks” who have claimed to hear from God, but had obviously heard from another source.

The notion that “our thoughts are not His thoughts” is an old testament statement about a rebellious Israel whom the prophet Isaiah was imploring to repent (Is 55:8). To the obedient, to the Christian, the statement reads more like, “Our thoughts are His thoughts.” The Bible is clear: It is the unbeliever who has the depraved mind (Rom 1:28), and that mind is hostile toward God (Rom 8:7). The believer, the Christian, on the other hand, is commanded to be transformed by the renewing of his/her mind (Rom 12:2).

Moreover, the apostle Paul tells us in 1 Cor 2:16 that we in fact “have the mind of Christ”.

The author went on to pair up his bible school member each to a 12 year old kid asking them to prophesy over each other. After the session the bible school students was amazed at the competency level of the 12 year olds.. when asked how long they had been prophesying, the 12 year olds responded that it’s their first time! Shocked, the bible school student ask one of the boy how he got so many words that turned out to be very detailed and encouraging, here’s the boy’s respond:

“My teacher told me that I was going to prophesy today, so I figured since I was doing God’s work, whatever thought came into my head was from God. So, when you asked if I had anything, I just said whatever first came to my mind.”

Amazing isn’t it.
